Martin Margiela - MM6
MM6 - Maison Martin Margiela is known for its iconic and sculptural styles. The man behind the famous brand is the Belgian born Martin Margiela – a man perhaps best known for never having appeared in any of his runaway shows. The brand has in recent years gained great success partly due to Mr. Margiela’s collaboration with high-street giant H&M in AW12. "Maison Martin Margiela is one of the most important and influential fashion houses in the last three decades" said Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M as the collaboration was announced. In the fashion industry Margiela is recognized as one of the most directional designers of our time.
Swedish Acne is on of the fashion brands that are obviously inspired by Margiela’s iconic designs – not surprisingly as Jonny Johansson founder and designer at Acne has been apprenticed to Martin Margiela.
With MM6, which was established in 1997, Maison Martin Margiela has adopted the uncompromising design to its sister brand. According to the brand itself the core of MM6 is to add the “Margielian” design more feminine and modern cuts and prints to create a distinctive everyday wardrobe.
